The Centre offers activities for schools all year round in curricula time and after school clubs. The Centre is approved by Learning Outside The Classroom and sessions are run by qualified and experienced staff. Programmes are available for children aged 5 – 18.
The key stage one and two activities for students aged 5-8 include indoor climbing, bell boating, team challenges and orienteering. The programme aims to develop decision making skills, communication, teamwork, confidence and personal and social development through fun, active sessions.
Many schools visit for one off activity days or multi week taster programmes at key stages three and four. Sessions are tailored to the specific requirements of each school and aim to give students the chance to experience new sports and challenge themselves in an enjoyable and safe environment. Activities include climbing, high ropes, open canoeing, kayaking, team challenges, orienteering, cycling and rowing.
Programmes are offered in climbing, kayaking, rowing and canoeing at GCSE level, with students following syllabi from Edexcel and AQA exam boards. These programmes include assessment time both on and offsite. Activities are also run for BTEC and A Level students. Sessions can also be geared towards gaining National Governing Body Awards in kayaking and sailing. The Centre has been recognised by exam board moderators for the quality of coaching and has a good reputation with schools for the grades achieved by students.
