Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre Youth Project has been lucky enough to receive £10,950 worth of equipment from Belgrave Playhouse in Leicester.
Belgrave Playhouse was the brainchild of Sue Ranger who has run it since 1979. The Project, sadly, had to close due to the cuts to local services. Over the years it has assisted 1000’s of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with disabilities, caring for them and helping them to cope with life and reach out to discover their potential. It is unique and groundbreaking in its approach to care and education and its closing is a loss to society.
The charity ran outdoor activities for young people and possessed a large amount of outdoor activity equipment. They have decided to bequeath this to Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre Youth Project as the principles that guided them for years are reflected in the work that we do here.
Our community would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts for this kind gift at such a difficult time. Below is a summary of the equipment given;
A canoe trailer, 4 open canoes, 2 kayaks and assorted paddles, 6 tents, 25 rucksacks, 17 sleeping bags, camping stoves, outdoor clothing and camping equipment and a top class racing boat.
